SUN NOODLE AND SIG ZANE: CELEBRATE 40 YEARS WITH A NEARLY SOLD-OUT KALO NOODLE KIT

To celebrate Sig Zane’s 40th anniversary, Sun Noodle and Sig Zane developed a unique culinary collaboration: the limited edition Kalo Noodle Kit. Rooted in Hawai‘i’s cultural heritage and crafted with care, this unique culinary collaboration has nearly sold out, with only a few kits remaining at select retailers.

Crafted with a blend of premium wheat flour and Hawai‘i-grown kalo (taro), and paired with a bright, citrusy yuzu shoyu sauce, the kit offers a refreshing and meaningful culinary experience. Packaged in a beautifully illustrated box featuring a Sig Zane design, it’s not just a meal — it’s a celebration of artistry, aloha, and kuleana.

“This collaboration is more than product innovation — it’s about investing in a resilient Hawai‘i, honoring our roots, and protecting the future of our food systems,” says Hisae Uki, VP of Business Operations.

Every element of the kit reflects core Hawaiian values: Maiau (artistry), mo‘omeheu (culture), and the guiding principles of respect for the ‘āina, kuleana to community, and aloha in every detail. From the lo‘i to your table, this isn’t just a meal — it’s a legacy, told through food and design.

The Kalo Noodle Kit is a continuation of Sun Noodle’s role in the “Kalo – Nourishing Hawaii and Sharing It with the World” program with the Hawai’i Executive Collaborative (HEC), launched in 2022 to elevate kalo as one of Hawai‘i’s most unique and important food sources. Originally developed in collaboration with Chef Mark Noguchi, Reppun Farm, and the HEC, this initiative reflects a collective vision to support local agriculture, preserve food culture, and advance Hawai‘i’s food security goals.

While the kits sold out quickly online, a limited number may still be available at select Foodland Farms locations and Sig Zane Designs. If you’re lucky enough to find one, you’re not just buying noodles — you’re taking home a piece of Hawai‘i’s story.

From the lo‘i to your table, this collaboration is a legacy told through flavor, design, and deep respect for the land and community.
