Ramen is an increasingly popular dish in Texas and the central U.S. — there are several ramen shops in Houston. Additionally, Texas has become a prime location for Japanese corporations, bringing employees who are looking for quality ramen. Houston is also convenient to Mexico and South America, where Sun Noodle has a growing client base.
How much ramen does Sun Noodle produce?
Sun Noodle produces approximately 250,000 servings of noodles daily and ships them to clients around the globe.
What is Sun Noodle known for?
Sun Noodle works closely with chefs to customize noodles according to the type of broth they create. Sun Noodle makes more than 600 different varieties of noodles. The pairing of artisanal broth with craft noodles is what makes every bowl of ramen a unique culinary experience.
When will the factory open?
Right now Sun Noodle is working to identify a location. The process of building the factory will take many months.
How many people will the factory employ?
This is something that will be determined and shared as soon as possible. At other factories Sun Noodle typically employs 70-80 people.
Have you chosen a design or construction firm?
As soon as we have news to announce on this front, we will share it.
How large will the factory be?
This will be our largest factory to date. Currently the largest factory is 42,000 square feet.
Will you buy or lease?
Sun Noodle is buying the property. We are committed to making a long-term investment in Houston and the state of Texas.
Are you a restaurant?
Sun Noodle is not a restaurant — but we do supply noodles for them! Our noodles and products can be found in restaurants across North America, South America and Europe.
What is Ramen Lab?
Ramen Lab is Sun Noodle’s ramen-ya incubator in New York City. Each month, we feature guest chefs from around the world to share their ramen creations with you. Check out ramen-lab.com for more info, or visit us for a bowl next time you’re in the Nolita neighborhood of NYC.
When I prepare your ramen kits, do I have to cook the noodles separately?
Yes, we recommend cooking our noodles in a separate pot from your broth — not doing so will result in a starchy broth. We highly discourage boiling our noodles in the broth (unless they’re our Wiki Wiki variety, which is made for quick cooking!)
To prepare noodles properly, always cook them separately (unless they’re our Wiki Wiki variety). The broth will be starchy otherwise.
Learn how to use your noodles — we’ve got more tips for cooking and storing Sun Noodle products in our section on Noodle Care.
What is the expected shelf life of your noodle product?
Our fresh ramen noodles must be refrigerated. Depending on storage conditions, most of our products have a shelf life of 2–3 weeks in the refrigerator and 1 year in the freezer. Freezing won’t alter the quality of your noodles, as long as you avoid abrupt changes in temperature when thawing.
Should I keep noodles in the refrigerator?
Absolutely — our fresh noodles are perishable and must be refrigerated or frozen.
How do I properly cook noodles that have been frozen?
If your noodles are frozen, we recommend defrosting them in the refrigerator overnight. Once your noodles are thawed, leave them at room temperature for 30 minutes prior to cooking in boiling water.
Are your products gluten free?
We do not sell gluten-free noodles at the moment.
Are your products Kosher/Halal?
At this time, no.
Do your products contain alcohol?
Are your ramen noodles alkalized and wheat-based?
